We like to say that when you use Lotus Sustainables, you’re loving the earth, one bag at a time. That’s because when we all change the way we shop, we can prevent millions of plastic bags from entering our environment every year.
But plastic bags are only the beginning!
Eliminating all plastic pollution is a big job. And creating a plastic-free future isn’t easy. But if we work together, anything is possible!
Helping to lead the plastic-free charge is 1% for the Planet, who connects businesses with environmentally conscious nonprofits.
As a 1% for the Planet member, Lotus Sustainables pledges 1% of our annual sales to eco-friendly, nonprofits that align with our values. 1% for the Planet members give back whether they are profitable or not. Because protecting the earth’s resources is the reason we are in business in the first place!
Through 1% for the Planet, we have the privilege of donating to organizations in 3 categories close to our hearts: Plastic Pollution Reduction, Social Justice Advocacy, and Climate Change Relief.
The Plastic Pollution Coalition is a growing global alliance of more than 1,200 organizations, businesses, and thought leaders in 75 countries working toward a world free of plastic pollution and its toxic impact on humans, animals, waterways, the ocean, and the environment. Their work focuses on educating the public about the harmful effects of plastic as well as sharing proactive initiatives for anyone to get involved.
The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network. Any time there is an issue regarding the health and safety of our beaches, local Surfrider volunteers are there, fighting for the beaches' right to be plastic-free. On a national level, the Surfrider Foundation campaigns for legislative victories that protect the coastal and ocean environments.
Project New Village started as a Southeast San Diego community collaboration to improve the health of their neighborhoods by increasing access to fresh foods. Today, Project New Village focuses on neighborhood-based agricultural cooperatives that educate communities via civic engagement and empowers neighborhoods with alternative fresh food ecosystems. Lotus Sustainables is proud to be from San Diego, and proud to partner with such a remarkable force for good in our greater community.
There are few things more sustainable than regenerative farming. The Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) is on a mission to repair our damaged planet by empowering farmers and consumers alike to rethink our agricultural systems and rid the world once and for all of poisonous chemicals, factory farming, exploitation and income inequality, soil degradation, fake food, and more. If climate change is a super villain, regenerative farming is the super power we need to defeat it.
Green America harnesses economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, business, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. By focusing on four specific systems (climate and clean energy, agriculture, investing, and fair labor), Green America has been making the world a healthier, safer, and more abundant place since 1982.
